2017 Quevedo LBV

Oddly this bottle doesn't specify either a bottling date or any hint as to whether it is filtered or not (e.g. it doesn't even say "no decanting required") beyond the fact it has a shortish driven cork.

Very deep purple to the edge where it fades slightly.

Nose excellent. Like a young vintage Port. Deep concentration of blackcurrants.

In the mouth, it is completely saturating. The fruit is, again, rather blackcurrant-like and surprisingly dry. There is then a big hit of tannins and nice, rounded acidity. The aftertaste is decently long. I wouldn't describe this as approachable or quaffable at the moment, but it is still very enjoyable. What it really needs is another decade in the bottle.

There have been some excellent LBVs recently but this one is a measure better than anything else I have tried. It really comes across as a vintage Port that has been bottled late rather than an upmarket reserve ruby.
