Oporto bottled. Burnt ochre in colour, 50% opaque. Sweet plum jam on the nose, fruit with a lovely tertiary honey tone. Balanced entry, honey and plum jam accompanied by a touch of heat. Medium weight, showing a cedar dryness on the mid-palate. The heat and cedar dominate the aftertaste with a biting menthol bringing tears to the eyes, before this settles into a big, long aniseed balls finish. Surprisingly tertiary and starting to dry out, the bottle had seeped very slightly and had been rewaxed 7 years ago. 84/100. Drunk 12-Sep-22. Decanted 3½ hours.
