2001 Warre Cavadinha

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

A fabulous dark red, the colour of black cherry juice. Pure fruit on the nose, sweet and fragrant, a blend of black cherry and ripe, sweet blackcurrant. Less overtly fruity on the palate, while there is plenty of fruit, the fruit sits within a lovely basket of acidity and gentle tannins. Warm menthol on the aftertaste gives way to a rich blackcurrant and dark chocolate finish which goes on for ages. While youthful, this is a lovely and typical balanced Warre which is still developing the finesse and elegance it will have when fully mature - but is absolutely delicious now. 90/100. Drunk 06-Jul-22. Decanted 1 hour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
