NV Burmester Tawny 40YO Tordiz (bottled 2019)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Drunk at lunch at the Matosinhos fish market.

Burmester 40yo tawny, bottled 2019. Opened 30 minutes. Deep orange, hint of browning; 40% opaque. Fabulous nose of vinagrinho and caramel. Smooth texture, richly flavoured with dried fruit, dried cherries and nutmeg. Lovely caramel and burnt orange finish. Port with a wonderful presence and panache. 93/100. Drunk 25-Jun-22.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
