I’ve asked what will the Soup of the Day, and was offered choices. It will be, I now know, Leek and Potato. Which is therefore my starter.

Work half day. I could double-decant at home. Or I could arrive circa 14:00 for a late lunch and decanting there. Which, with help from a few others, might have us looking, by say 16:30, embarrassed at some empties. Team theory?

Grovelling apologies to all. The order got to B&F an hour after their supplier cut-off yesterday morning, so unfortunately no special steaks tonight. At the moment it's assumed that everyone will have the standard 240g sirloin instead. If you want something different please change your order when you arrive.

A hopefully interesting bottle will accompany me this evening that clearly won't make up for the disappointment but might help soften the blow.

I should be at the B&F around 17.30.

Julian will have been there on his own since 14.30. What could possibly have gone wrong?
