Berry Brothers spread their wings...

Jo and I went out for a few beers in our local pubs last night.

We live in a small village in Derbyshire that has a dis-used coal mine, one shop, a hair "salon" in someone's front room, two churches and four pubs. US guys can equate this place to something like a small clearing in the Everglades where the French-speaking natives roast live hogs and welcome strangers with a toothless grin and a banjo. It's my kind of place 88)

Much to my surprise I noticed this on the wall of one of the pubs...

When asked, the new owner (of 2 weeks standing), who had already declared his intention to gut the place and renovate with trendy leather sofas and stainless steel fittings, declined to sell it to me and said he would be putting it on Ebay due to my interest. Git.

My fellow villagers and I will be hanging him from the oak tree on the village green at the next full moon.

I take it that there are now only 3 pubs worth visiting in your village...

Derek,

If he's going trendy, you might like to suggest to him serving port mixed with blue WKD - cheeky vimto, some call it. Sounds like his sort of thing.

That shop, it is originally from, is 20 yards away from Overtired & Emotionals Club in PallMall. Only found out when rushing for the morning train, after our 66 Tasting, otherwise I would have enjoyed seeing what goodies they had on offer. It still looked like that sign would fit into its decor of the present day.

I did manage to blag a tour out of Berry's for Derek last week, just before the offline. The history that it has would make for a wonderful venue for one of our get-togethers...

...but would also be considerably more expensive than TCP with added wireless!

We did one there three years ago organised by bman. It was great fun.

It was a great experience to have a tour around the place and see all those wonderful old bottles, many of which could do with some new labels

The experience we had at the very end of our tour was also wonderful:

Sophistocated, luscious, full bodied, yet lean and beautifully smooth, elegant and with an extremely attractive nose. She was also very efficient at operating a till :P

If Jo reads these pages, or any of her friends check up on you for her, consider editing and then deleting this post.

Don't worry, I've sat through enough Brad Pitt films to feel safe making such comments whilst "window shopping"

PS: Jo (or Jo's friends checking up on me for her), I didn't post this, or the one above about the girl in BBR. It was Julian, he's got Admin rights and can make it look like it was me just to get me in trouble. Honest!
