I've been thinking of getting one for a long while to use at my new house warming party. Well, the now not so new house (moved in last year two days before lockdown started). Now that things are improving on the Covid front, I threw caution to the wind and got one. It does come with the cork stopper/pourer to make it easy. A bit heavy to start I presume. Will get easier as it gets lighter. Or harder lol

I am a 1964 baby and am always on the lookout for 1964 Ports, especially ones that I've never seen before.

I have no idea how we would pull of a transaction seeing as I'm in Seattle, WA, USA, but I would love to figure something out!

One of the 64's was a leaker, had it today. Level was below the shoulder, so the wine most likely wasn't showing its best side. Was a perfectly agreeable colheita, nothing spectacular but quite pleasurable to sip. The VA was in line with these kinds of Ports.

No. But my grandmother was, like pretty much all Douro grape farmers at the time, a member of CdD, do when they released these she apparently went a bit overboard with her desire to help them out. Also her uncle was the first president of the CdD, so that might've played a part.

Perhaps And I know a few people on these two Port forums, TPF & FTLOP, who've also helped the CdD by buying some of these. I remember trying to take a picture of the large banner in the entryway that showed how much quantity of Port for each year they held. The security guard wasn't amused and stopped me...then why have a large banner in the entryway

Do they still have large holdings? I am sure I remember reading something about the CdD more recently but can’t remember what it was.

I’m sure you can find a “click and collect” option would work. Although even Glenn might struggle to look innocent as he walks past US customs with 53 bottles of wine tucked into his trouser legs…

Just checked and there was an imperial version - 7.3 litre capacity, 540mm high.

The shape looks about as sensible as you might expect for something like this. (Although it is a shame they didn’t make a giant snake one like their signature hand-blown ones!). But according to the old amazon listing, its weight was 6.75kg so I guess it would be about 13kg when full (assuming the stopper would weigh quite a bit)? Not sure pouring from that would be a one-handed job!
