Two bottles each of Noval 2000 (alas, not Nacional) and Burmester 1994.

Re: Latest buy
The way I see it, you have two options: either reduce the picture quality on your iPhone camera settings (you probably have the quality set to max or near max - as you should, but it does create problems when trying to upload to forums or message boards, as they usually have a size limit) or you first upload the pictures to a picture-hosting website (like imgbb or imgur, for example) and then post the direct links (so the pics actually appear, not just the link) in your post here.DanSelk wrote: ↑08:38 Tue 12 Oct 2021 Wanting to add some photos to here of recent purchases but when I use my iPhone it says the size is too big to upload to the site.
I can't see anywhere how to reduce image quality
I've messaged Admin on here but not had a reply for weeks. Can anyone help please??

Re: Latest buy
I asked about this here. It seems the options are: a) resize the images on your computer to under 500KB before uploading; b) use a screen-shot function on your computer to do the same; or c) use the Tapatalk App to upload them.DanSelk wrote: ↑08:38 Tue 12 Oct 2021 Wanting to add some photos to here of recent purchases but when I use my iPhone it says the size is too big to upload to the site.

I also use an iPhone. I email myself the picture I want to upload. When I send the email my phone asks me what size I want the image and basically gives me a choice of small, medium or large. I always choose small and find the image I receive by email loads up to the site perfectly well.
But I still have problems if I try to upload more than one image per post.

Thanks everyone, will try these suggestions.

Macs and PCs both have software that can edit images for you fairly trivially. I'm only familiar with the process on a PC, but for that I just use Paint. It has an option to resize an image which is very straightforward.DanSelk wrote: ↑08:38 Tue 12 Oct 2021 Wanting to add some photos to here of recent purchases but when I use my iPhone it says the size is too big to upload to the site.

Been able to add them, finally, thanks all. Only tried the Sandeman Tawny Ports so far, which were excellent.

Not tried any of these yet but plan to very soon!

Re: Latest buy
Double depth racks are really useful for making better use of cellar space. Companies like Cranville will also make racks to whatever pitch you specify between the bottles. The vast majority of wine and port bottles are less than 85mm in diameter, but the standard pitch of wine racks is usually 96 or 98mm, so there's scope for squeezing more bottles in with a tighter rack pitch.I'm running out of cellar space. A most unwelcome development.

Most people would say "buy less wine", or even "drink more wine", but you went with "here are some ways for you to accumulate more wine". I respect that.

You are talking to the man with three cellars. He has managed to overcome the challenge of running out of storage space without slowing down the pace at which he buys wine and Port.

Finally found a place supplying Quevedo Port, Oscar will be pleased, not in Ireland but Yorkshire (The Horseshoe Inn Egton Bridge near Whitby). So tonight we’ll be drinking his 10 year old Tawny which will be a first for me.

Re: Latest buy
It’s really pleasing to see Quevedo out “in the wild”, as it were, rather than limited to special interest groups. It also happened to me, recently: I went round to a friend’s for dinner; he said he’d had a bottle of white Port that he’d been meaning to open for ages; I was a bit worried that it might be the Chip Dry but it turned out to be the Quevedo one.

Is anyone going to head to Strakers to pick up after today’s sale? If so, I’m after a small favour…

I'm being offered a few bottles of that but I'm not sure the asking price is worth it (will try to negotiate, of course). Would it be indiscreet of me to ask how much you paid? Feel free to PM me, if you'd prefer.winesecretary wrote: ↑18:22 Sat 16 Oct 2021 Case of Warre 1977 from Straker Chadwick for drinking over the next few years. Hurrah!

Re: Latest buy
Still, incredibly, I think for over ten years now, the most frequently seen VP at auctions in the UK..Case of Warre 1977
..and for that reason, it tends to sell at less than full weight. Pre-pandemic it was going for £600-£750 for a dozen, hammer; since then, prices for all collectibles have gone utterly insane..
Still, I've just secured a half case of Sandeman '75 VP - a missing mainstream VP from my cellar - at a very modest - long shot price..

@ Mike J.W. - I think you'll be impressed with the Niepoort. Best young VP I've ever drunk.
