At the Festive Virtual I suggested that it might be nice to have a proper tasting of the Churchill VPs and SQs. So, here we go…

If you’re interested please also indicate what bottles you can offer. Suspect we won’t have a problem with the VPs but will struggle with the Fojos and early Agua Altas.

BTW, I know I included 87? in my list of known vintages of ChAA, but on checking the 87 I had seen is a Ch87cr (crusted), not ChAA.

I also have the CH91, according to my spreadsheet.

Churchill Grahams have been invited. Awaiting confirmation of their availability before setting the tasting date.

I’d be interested if a space becomes available. I have a single bottle of Ch. 85 and quite a few port club bottlings.

The Churchills are struggling with availability and have asked it we could do this Tuesday 1st March (as both Johnny & Jamie will be in the UK).

I can make it. The Quevedo event is scheduled the evening before but that looks tentative and I don't know if Oscar has confirmed, so I don't know if that changes things in terms of shifting that event. I've commented in the topic for that event.

Not much I can offer: Ch 1982, 1985, 2011; ChG 2005, 2009, 2016, 2018, 2019 but what I have, I am happy to use for this tasting.

I’m also now sorting out the bottles and will confirm what I need from people shortly. If you haven’t already indicated what you have to offer please do so now.

It looks like we haven’t got any of the Fojos or early Agua Alta, or the 2003 and 2007 VPs. I’m going to see if the Churchills can help with any of these.

This one snuck up quickly! I assume we're going ahead with the Grahams in attendance, although the chatter on here has been a little quieter than the 85s thread. Neil, are we good to go? Which wines would you like us to bring?

Apologies everyone, I’m going to have to drop out of this tasting. I have a pretty full-on week next week and this would be too much of a squeeze.

I am bringing (have already delivered to the B&F) ChAA92, ChAA98, Ch00.

Sorry, been quiet. Will confirm all the details and bottles required tomorrow. Am checking with guests that they're still coming.

Just heard from the Churchills. They are supplying a number of bottles at a discounted cost:

2003 & 2007 VP
1987 Agua Alta
1984, 1986, 1989 Fojo

So, plenty of bottles to adopt.

(The placemats for the previous Churchill tasting, on 06 Feb 2013, used Helvetica and Times. An email today from the Churchill office “suggest[ed] using the Helvetica font”, so Helvetica is being used, with Times.)

I have the ’85, but if it is preferred that I adopt, then I will do as instructed.

Confirming. I still have the ChG05 and ChG09, but provided costs aren't prohibitive I could adopt if we'd prefer to stick to full VP.
