1977 Warre

And here I find myself again consuming the Warre 1977 for the third time in two months.
4 hour decant from bottle with excellent level. Heavy sediment.
To look at, this is a light delicate port 40% opaque with dried cranberry and almond on the nose.
The mint and herbs are light on the front palate but they become very pronounced on the mid palate before fading away to a delicious residual cinnamon on the finish. If one focusses on the fruit it's chocolate cherries in kirsch that you're getting, which is no criticism.
Whereas, seven years ago, the Warre 1970 clearly still had more to give, I am not sure that this Warre 1977 is ever going to be better than it is now. I have a case still to broach - and am extremely happy about that - but I will be broaching it this year, and laying into it at a rate of knots.
