I was in Portugal in the beginning of Sept. 07

What a wonderfull place to visit, I lived at Quinta Do Portal in Sarbrosa, 15 min drive from Pinhao.

7 days in the Duero valley, and 2 days i Porto/vila nova de gaia.

We had about 6 hours in 9 days where we cut relax, The ohter time, visting Quintas and taste taste taste.

One of the days we jumped on the train i Pinhao, and drowe to pochino (end station) Took a lot of pictures of Taylors Vargellas, Visuvio, and many other Quintas.

Some of the Quintas we visit was:

Ramos Pinto Qta. de Erva Moira
Qta . de Visuvio
Qta. de Seara D Ordens
Qta. de Nova
And many others ,

In Villa nova de gaia we visit

Sandeman
Ramos Pinto
Calem (Feist)
Taylors
Grahams
and of course the Port instutite.

It`s not the last time I`ve been in Portugal, hopefully im going back this summer with my wife.


That about you, ever been in Portugal ??????

I love the Douro and consider it to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. Sadly, life is too busy and time too short for me to go there as often as I would wish; I manage perhaps only one trip every 2-3 years.

But to anyone who loves port or red wine and has not been to the Douro, I would absolutely echo the recommendation. Go when you can, as often as you can.

I have been 3 times since March 06. What a wonderful place it is. The landscape is stunning and it really is a special feeling to be at the Quintas where Purple Sunshine is produced.

Im now close to the point if you give me the choice to spend the weekend with the swedish bikini team in the spa or go to the Douro - I would have to think twice.

There are so many quintas and it seems that time stood still. But without at least some portugese it is sometimes quite difficult.

Next event in the douro will be the Vindouro festival in Sao Joao da Pesqueira in the beginning of September.
