Portal Restaurant in London

Post by RonnieRoots »

I found a link on wineanorak to Portal Restaurant in London. Apparently an upscale Portuguese restaurant with a decent wine list. Judging from the website, it looks interesting.

Did any of you ever eat here? It would be interesting to know whether it's worth checking out during a next London visit. The wine list doesn't make any mention of prices... a bad sign?

I've eaten there a few times - its one of my favourite places to take people for business lunches as it is a little distance away from the normal circuit of business lunch restaurants.

Prices are very reasonable, including for the wine, unless you decide that you want to drink their one bottle of Noval Nacional 1963. Most of the ports on offer are from Portal but there are a handful of older vintage ports from other producers.

The food is also top class. I recommend it and occasionally consider using it as a venue for a port offline, but then remember the quality of service we get from Ian and the staff at the Crusting Pipe.
