E Bay. 1900 Niepoort Colheita.

Post by Conky »

If anyone is interested, I came across this on E Bay.
To hot a price for me, and in Germany, but seems very cheap at the moment with 20hours to go, as we stand. Might mushroom in price, but if any one has a keen interest and the right balance of nerve and sensibility, well who knows.

Or maybe a 1834 Garrafeira?

As I clicked the reply button, both lightbulbs in my office failed simultaneously - just after I've just been down the pub decrying the existence of ghosts...

Hmm..!

Oh well, back on topic - with only this screen to illuminate the room..

Bottles like this always miss the essential detail of when they were bottled, and old non-vintage port has a very subjective (and variable) market value.

The 1900 is already fully up to what I would contemplate paying - the older bottle looks tempting, but the seller is a regular on eBay who looks a little too professional - I can't help wondering where he gets his stock from...

The Niepoort was bottled in 1971 according to the back label. and I can say, for US prices, its a steal.

The Niepoort went for £165. Not bad.
