I've been offered a small parcel of Smith Woodhouse 1947 from presumed good provenance (stored in a natural cellar in a house near Croydon) priced at £395 per bottle.

That's more than I'm prepared to pay, but I did agree to pass the offer on to others on TPF. As usual, let me know if you'd like some by PM.

May of course be a coincidence but looks like these are now being offered for sale at Seckfords- and at a fair premium to boot.

Those would be the bottles. In my opinion they are overpriced by around 30%, but then what do I know?

Good juice from my experience, but '47 doesn't carry the reputation enjoyed by '45 or '48, and SW is a second division player by tradition.

If the vendor put these into auction, they'd be unlikely to net more than £200/btl after sales commission, so a fair private deal might be around 60-65% of the price asked..
