End of Year Awards

It's coming to the end of the year, the traditional season for the nomination and awarding of prizes for outstanding services to a particular community.

As potential recipients of the inaugural FTP Year End Award, I would like to nominate the following people:
  • The Creator - for services to Creation

The Adminstration Team - for the prevention of spam

The Pendant Prize - Jdaw1 for his outstanding services to the apostrophe; single handedly leading the despairing attempt to encourage all forum members and browsers to use this much maligned piece of English punctuation in its proper place at all time.
Any other nominations?

Alex

On behalf of the Admin team I would like to thank our parents, god, our better halves and our Agent for making it all possible.

I would also like. To nominate Conky for the Fairies Dancing on my Tongue TN of the year award.

It was put there as bait, so I might as well bite. You meant, of course, “Pedant†, with only one “n†. You also omitted to pluralise the “time†.

I would like to nominate Conky for hosting the Fonseca tasting at the start of September.

Edit: just realised that AHB probably meant “futile† not “despairing†.

No, they were not put in as bait, they were genuine errors so I am properly corrected.

However, I did say "despairing" as a deliberate choice rather than "futile". "Futile" could have led to ambiguity as to whether I considered the attempts to be trifling whereas I believe that "despairing" conveys more clearly the probable perceived hopelessness of the crusade.

I was sorely tempted to second this nomination, but in the interests of polity (and I will accept others may not see this as the appropriate choice of word), I will let the temptation pass.

Alex

I second the nomination of the creator.

I would like to nominate you all for the following award...

The Port Forum Award for being the oddest bunch of critters that Conky has ever come across, but who he also would love to consider his good friends!

If you are all successful and actually win this coveted Award, I think I may be washing my hair whilst the acceptance speeches are on. But I'll gladly join you for the celebratory bottles of Port later!
