1975 Quinta do Noval

Many moons ago, whilst wooing her daughter, I visited the future mother-in-law bearing 1960 and 1975 Quinta do Noval. The 1960 did not survive that weekend; the 1975 waited almost three years in an imperfect cupboard.

Decanted, by said mother-in-law, some three hours before, and served with various inlaw-type relatives before dinner. To the eye pale pink, and clearly too old. Little distinctive nose other than alcohol. The heat also predominant on the palate, with cherry-sourced sugar. The sister-in-law’s boyfriend detected wood, which I correct to a slight mustiness. Less heat and hence better later in the evening.

Summary: unremarkable. Give six hours decant. On the UncleTomScore something like 3-1.

Jdaw,

Do you think the mother-in-law's imperfect cupboard contributed to the less than impressive showing of this bottle?

I think its weakness was classic 1975, so no.
