I am having trouble with the clue. Perhaps it relates to our Derek; he is Scottish and lives in England, has connections with Edinburgh, Derbyshire and London, is an amateur astronomer, likes Port, likes Pork… none of which leads me to any jazz players. Or maybe Derek is a reference to someone else. Derek and Clive. Derek and the Dominoes.
I'm disregarding the 'clue' until it's actually framed in a useful way.
In the meantime, if performers who have had some connection with be bop / hard bop during their careers constitute 'good answers', I'll say Charlie Parker.

He's over 65, so I wouldn't say contemporary, just not as young as Kit D.

I fall for it every time. I think 'one little guess can't hurt', next thing it's three in the morning and I am being tormented by folk wilfully guessing wrong.

I shall think of something, help yourselves if anybody else has a question. Back soon.

Reins: mine. :!:

I recently received a gift pack of beer from someone I met on the Port Harvest Tour. This gift is hoped to provide me with another beer that doesn't taste like beer so that I might actually enjoy it.

The first such beer was Eric Menchen's beer, Friek, which is made by the O'Dell Brewing Company and is something of a cross between a Framboise and a Kriek (thus the name). The second such beer was Lindeman's Belgian Lambic Framboise, which to me tastes like raspberry Champagne. (Note: that's a good thing.)

This beer is not a fruit beer. Rather, it was aged differently and the giver of the gift is convinced that this aging will disguise the fact that it is actually a Stout. I have my doubts, because Stout is a very beery beer to me.

How was this beer aged?
