26/12 - two bottles of 2003 Grand Puy Lacoste that evaporated, so must have been OK, plus finished off various leftovers.

Some Sugrue Cuvee Boz Blanc de Blancs 2015 showing really rather well. I am not sure a better ESW has yet been made (albeit the 1996 Nyetimber is in the running).

Domaine Agnes Pacquet 2022 Hautes Cotes de Beaune Blanc - best still chardonnay I’ve had all week - burgundy is infuriating sometimes - but this was lovely with the retro prawn cocktail
Domaine Vincent Perrin 2020 Volnay Cuvee Marie - sublime light silky red with the onion tart. Full of sappy life.

What makes a prawn cocktail “retro”?

Re: Festive Drinking 2025
For Christmas Eve I popped open a 1968 Andresen Colheita. It was concentrated and savory.
Christmas dinner I opened a 2001 Bodegas Valsacro Rioja Dioro (Tempranillo) to have with our standing rib roast. It was excellent.
After dinner I opened a Quinta da Romaneira 40 y.o. Tawny. It was sublime.

@ Flash - it was indeed served in genuine 70s glassware of that sort!
@ Mike J.W. - sounds like you had a real fine time! We also had a standing rib roast on Christmas Day. 9 lbs. There were three of us. It was brilliant.
This evening - Fontaine Gagnard 2021 Chassagne Montrachet Blanc. A full deep gold. 5 year old white burgundy should not be a full deep gold. Bl**dy premoxed - tastes like a well used birdcage. Premox. In 2021. FFS. Sort it out.
The substitute Marc Colin Chassagne 1er Cru Morgeot 2022 Blanc was, happily, sublime. Lemon yellow. Lanolin wax and yuzu. That’s what Chassagne Blanc should taste like.
St Joseph L’Instinct 2022 Domaine Jolivet. Even better than the 2021 - benefitted from a 2 hour decant and an absolute belter. Deep dark red, palate of garrigue, olive, iodine, black pudding.

A 2008 DR Colheita Branco on New Year's Eve. I will be sad when I run out of these, they're fabulous. I now only have 3 left.

31/12 - two magnums of Cissac 2009 - showing well, but no rush
