A very kind gentleman delivered a free bottle of Niepoort Garrafeira 1964 to my house today.
It looks yummy

Shame you can't drink it then. You can just sit there gloating at your free port.

I might make an exception. Now then, where did I put that corkscrew...

You are of course correct. I can't drink it all by myself.
Perhaps I should fill 13 sample bottles, post them to the usual
suspects and keep a glass for myself?
Ni64G anyone?

Very nice. I'm not sure we will need quite so many water tick-boxes.
Are there decanting sheets, labels and pre-pouring sheets to ensure no one gets confused?

The placemats are beautiful, but can the glass be a little smaller? I'm not sure I have stemware that big.

Excellent. This is shaping up rather well.
I do hope that Glenn gets in before all the spaces are taken, it would be a shame if he missed out.

It's only 6 am PST. Can we not reserve him a place until at least 6.30?

Hey Derek. Your postage bill might offset the free-ness of the port!
Owen and André say it's ok, you can send their samples c/o me to save postage.

Hey now! I have to be present when that bottle is opened or its life-giving properties won't be bestowed upon its rightful owner!

A nice little rouse while it lasted
Your precious bottle is tucked away safely and will be awaiting your arrival in September.
Apologies to those whose expectations might just have been dashed

It's a fine looking bottle, too. Looks to be in better shape than any other I've ever seen for sale, so I'm quite pleased.

Very fine indeed. The level is into the neck and the seal looks perfect. The label reveals "Bottled 1971" but "Decanted ----" has been rubbed away.
I have laid it down in my wine fridge. Remind me in a week or two and I will check for signs of leakage just in case the seal has been disturbed in transit. If so I can stand it up and re-wax if necessary.
