1970 warre decanting time

Post by benread »

Tonight I plan to open a bottle of this. For what it is worth I shall be sharing it with a French man and his Argentinian wife.

How early should I decant?

Thank you

I think it is quite a tough old buzzard, so pretty much whatever suits. The last one I opened I liked best when I first opened it though. There is the risk of bottle stink and not having enough time for it to blow off (snigger). I guess if you are going to try and please the woman from Argentina by serving a cow which you have cut off the horns and wiped it's bum then you may wish to have it freshly opened.

I would give it 6 hours or so of decanting.

Combined wisdom seems to suggest 'soon' if I plan to drink this about 10pm GMT today!

Thank you both.

Are you prepping a meal before serving and enjoying?

if so,

I'd pop as soon as prepping the meal and drinking after every one has finished eating.

allows you to try first then 4-6 hrs later enjoy the rest.

Amazing that a reply containing information from Owen has been classified as 'wisdom'. But there you are!

Now, now. We don't want JDAW getting his green pen out again, do we?

God forbid. But when we get on you don't like it, and when we argue you don't like it.. Anyway Owen knows I think he's amazingly wise really.

It's the raging sexual chemistry between us which provokes him. Do you remember 'Moonlighting'? Well I'm Bruce and he's Cybil.

Well it's just that Derek said you reminded him of Lady Di. So you get Cybil, obv.
