Pop and decant and pour from a bottle which has been in the ‘fridge for an hour.
The colour of membrillo; a sort of singing light red. Very attractive - a colour that gets your hopes up. Nose has poached quince, star anise, a hint of walnut. Palate has an attractive cherry note but primarily a sort of mellow hedgerow floor; with a medlar jelly note on the finish. A little sweet, overall, but very pleasant for consumption now, as the acidity keeps it delightfully in check.
It’s disappearing rapidly.
This was the first of three bottles purchased after a pleasing sample bottle a few years ago from the Advent calendar box, thus proving the efficaciousness of the marketing effort. Drink not keep, but I really look forward to the other two.
