The diary is under-populated; I have available a four-pack of the Quevedo closure experiment. So, Wednesday 25
th February 2026 there will be the Quevedo four-pack, and others are to bring sighted something (not everybody to bring non-port).
You know of
the dining menu at Davy’s Boot & Flogger . You know the tasting process. You know what to do. Do it.

I'll decide what to bring nearer the time.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
2026: DR Very Old White, Graham Stone Terraces 2011, Quevedo Branco 1986 b.2026

But nowhere in your theme was there a ban on us bring one tasting pack each. Indeed, the two stipulations were "sighted somethings" and "not everybody to bring non-port".
A closure tasting pack seems to meet both requirements.
Just pointing out the obvious...

You are quite correct. My reply, slightly, argued with something not said.

But so have you. Despite you suggestion to the contrary — not quite unambiguously said, but suggested — I have not further constrained what others are to bring. However, my two typos are regretted.

The
Boot & Flogger has said that they are “Starting to fill up on the 25th”. So we will be in the Green or 1931 rooms. Hence this tasting, at eight people, is full.
Edit: for us, Green Room.

Today has been a pretty sh**ty day, but that made me laugh and the day is better because of it. Thank you, Julian! Just what I needed.
Amusingly enough, if I look at my planned 2026 drinking list, for the week commencing Monday 23rd Feb I have 2 bottles listed. They are Fortnum & Mason 2003 and Quevedo 2014. There seems a rather delightful irony in the latter.
I'll swap a couple of things in the schedule around and bring a magnum of Gould Campbell 1977.

With humble apologies (especially because Julian chose a date I said I would be able to manage), I am going to have to withdraw from this tasting.
A combination of a dying mother-in-law and the date of the bft rushing towards me has just made my attendance impossible.

Would you like the Quevedo closure part of it postponed until a date you can manage, while the other bottles — and something from me — are drunk this on 25
th February?
Would you welcome my seizing ancient organiser powers and declaring this?

It’s not something about which to be “afraid”, even if not quite John 2:1–11.

That would be most welcome. I’ve not had the chance to taste a closure pack yet, and I’m very interested to do so.

Given the identity of the attendees, might a couple of additional (as yet to be determined) spaces on the placemats be advisable?

I agree as there is no mention of fortification in the New Testament, not, I hasten to add, that I am any kind of expert

My schoolboy error is regretted, and has been remedied.
Of course, if given advance notice of ‘surprises’, things could be better still.

My understanding was that distillation for drinking did not happen until, approx., midway between JC and the Council of Nicea.

If I read the thread correctly, I believe there are three two extra glass spaces remaining?
