1970 Fonseca, bottled by Justerini & Brooks. The darkest of the wines so far, a deep red which is 80% opaque. Jellied fruit on the nose, sweet and perfumed. Perfect balance on the palate with glorious depth of fruit and immense richness to the fruit. That richness and dark cherry lingers for ages on the tongue. This is drinking just so well at the moment. So far, this is the best wine in a fabulous line-up. 96/100.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

2026: DR Very Old White, Graham Stone Terraces 2011, Quevedo Branco 1986 b.2026
