Inflation Calculator

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Occasionally I come across an old wine catalogue or just find a photo in Julian’s book showing that eg. Quinta do Noval 1887 cost 3d per bottle in 1890.

Today I found an inflation calculator I can use to figure out what the price would be in today’s money. (£1.30, just fyi.)
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

This brings a wry smile to my face. But there's absolutely no way official figures on inflation are complete b0ll0cks. No sireee, no way...
