1996 Taylor Vargellas

From half bottle. Three hour decant.

A full rich red.

Slight touches of sulphur and rubber on the nose. Sherbert. Hard to discern much fruit. A little cherry, with swirling.

On the palate quite a lush entry and has a very distinctly red fruit character - redcurrant, raspberry, strawberry. Quite sweet, drying later. A little dark chocolate, later, but not precise enough for me to identify brand or percentage.

Very little Taylor prickly heat until very late.

This is pleasant port, but not in the league of the 1987 or 1991 Vargellas.
