Pintas Vertical

Post by Christopher »

I would like to arrange a Pintas vertical which started in 2003 I believe . It’s never been done before and some of the vintages are in very short supply

Could everyone let me know what they have.

I have 2011, 2007, 2005, and 2003.

Bottles so far:
  1. 2003 (CMAG);
  2. 2005 (CMAG);
  3. 2007 (CMAG);
  4. 2011 (CMAG);
  5. 2014 (MJRM);
  6. 2015 (MSC);
  7. 2016 (MJRM);
  8. 2017 (GEAG);
  9. 2018, perhaps (NAC);
  10. 2019 (MSC, CMAG).
The Pintas page on the website lists eleven Vintages, being nine of the ten above, and 2004 and ’09.

This list of attendees is made without bound, because it is not yet known where the cut will be. It might at as few as eight people, or perhaps at the usual limit of fourteen. And the list might be rearranged to favour those with relevant contributions.
  1. Winemaker;
  2. Winemaker;
  3. CMAG (2003, ’05, ’07, ’11, ’19);
  4. GEAG (2017);
  5. MSC (2015, ’19);
  6. MPM;
  7. CPR;
  8. NAC (perhaps 2018);
  9. IDJ;
  10. RON;
  11. JDAW;
  12. AP (heralded foreigner);
  13. Jonathan R.;
  14. MJRM (2014, ’16);
  15. HTWH.

I'm also happy to buy something for this but it appears to be a really small range to choose from....

I have no Pintas, yet. Depending on date of tasting, I might be in Porto/Douro before then and could seek something out.

I have 2003, 2007, 2014, 2016.
It's unlikely I'll make the tasting, but these things pop up every once in a while.

Pintas is not a producer I am familiar with. I don't own any but would be keen to try some if this comes off.

Pintas (VP and still wine) is produced by Wine & Soul (Sandra Tavares da Silva and Jorge Serodio Borges). They also produced VP's (beside the already mentioned) in 2009, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021. They are all excellent VP's, that challenge the big names (and maybe equal or even surpass them).

Their still wines are brilliant, some of the best in the Douro. I don't have as much experience with their ports (mostly with tawnies from their Manoella brand, which are very good) other than tasting at fairs and the like, but they should be on the same level.

Yes please.

I’ll speak to my man at Corney & Barrow (who I just happen to be seeing this evening) and see if they can help with supply. Pretty sure they’ve imported since day 1.

Assume you’re talking about the fortified rather than the table wines?

Thank you , yes they are the importer but very little on their site. Tanners also sell it but again next to nothing.

I would be interested in attending and I might actually have a single bottle kicking around. When I'm back in Bristol I'll check and if I do I'll add it here.

Thanks Julian
Can I please add 3 reserved. 2 for the winemakers and one hopefully for a member from abroad.
This if can get it to work will be very difficult to repeat.
Thanks

The 2017 is arriving today so put me down for that. Provisionally put Jonathan R down as I recall him saying on Tuesday he has some Pintas.

Maybe I'm completely wrong, but could it be that I am supposed to be the "member from abroad"? (because I posted about the existing VP's of Pintas).
I am an enormous fan of Sandra and Jorge (please say hello to them from Paul if they join you), but I have no intention to be present (too far, too old :( ), although it is undoubtedly a great tasting!

Hi if there is a space available could I be added to the attendee list (or to the reserve list if not). I do not own any of their ports but happy to buy as needed. I really like the white they make Guru/Guru NM too. Michael (MJRM).

I thought I had a bottle of Pintas but I cannot find one (or a record of having purchased one) so please drop me to the reserves and I'll make a call on this one once I know what the associated costs might be for adoption etc.
