2022 Burmester

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Maroon in colour with a narrow rim. An unusual nose, elegant fruit, almost honeyed in its delicacy. There is an attractive sharpness to the fruit on the palate, giving a lovely fresh mouthfeel to the wine. The acidity on the palate highlights the quality of the fruit; the subtle tannins weaving a warp on which the fruit is woven. Nice balance to the palate. The tannins become slightly more noticeable on the aftertaste and finish, but the fruit drops away a little quickly leaving a long aniseed sensation that stays in the mouth for several minutes. Day 1. 88-90/100. Tasted 23-Aug-2024.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
