1995 Quevedo Colheita (bottled 2023)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled in 2023 in 10cl format for the 2023 advent calendar. A lovely mahogany-red colour, 90% opaque. A wonderful nose, full of lavender polish, cedar wood and rancio; really expressive! Intensely flavoured, big on the palate but well balanced with the concentrated acidity. Sweet dates and dried figs dominate the fruit on the palate. The acidity is a little too intense on the aftertaste, but quickly settles to allow the date and honey finish to take over and hold for a minute or two. A really nice Colheita which matches well against my preference for big, powerful Ports in the wood-aged category. 92/100. Opened 01-Jan-24. Pop 'n' pour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
