Waitrose are currently selling Kopke Finest Reserve Port at £10 per bottle. Something of a bargain perhaps? I thought I’d try and find out…

The wine is an attractive rose red colour, with a transparent centre. On the nose it offers a nice arrangement of stewed berry and redcurrants, livened up with a little star anise spice. The fruit on the palate is sweet and honeyed with the acidity being a little jarring and harsh, not wholly integrated within the fruit. A little light in palate presence initially, it fills out pleasantly to yield a slightly bitter aniseed and resin aftertaste and finish. 84/100.

This is probably fair value for money, but I’d pay a little more and buy the 10YO Tawny from Morrison.
