2005 Quinta da Pedra Alta LBV

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled unfiltered in 2010. Produced by Vinhos Quinta da Pedra Alta SA in Faivos. Light in texture but full of plum fruit and gentle green tannins - astonishingly youthful, lots of acidity and an amazingly fruit and persistent finish. It’s splendid - if I had more bottles of this I’d cellar them for a decade. Delicious! 89/100

The following evening this wine had filled out and become wonderfully smooth - a palate full of bramble and raspberry fruit, gently supported by just the right amount of acidity and the barest hint of tannins. Light, spritely and very elegant, this is a wonderful wine with the most astonishing persistent fruit finish given the delicacy of the palate. Absolutely fabulous, but give it at least 12 hours in the decanter if opening one now. 91/100.
Drunk 15-Mar-23. Open 1 day.
