On the posting of tasting notes

Post by jdaw1 »

It used to be that most of a tasting’s attendees would post tasting notes. Gradually, it became fewer. And then, at about the start of the pandemic, we gave up.

Following the 1983 horizontal on 25 May 2023, George requested:

That done (NN, F, T, G, D, GC, QH, SW, W, BBR, Ck, K, O, , Fd, Ni), TNs were posted by George, by Neil, and then by me.

Please could we resume our former custom of posting TNs? Is there anything that can be done centrally to encourage this?

I also have notes from at least five tastings in a pile, looking at me reproachfully.

Thank you for posting the review thread and the tasting note links - I shall do mine once the house has been painted (yes, seriously).

Suggest (in this thread) tastings for which I should make threads, and it will be done.

For me, ditto, without a commitment as to which Christmas.

I thoroughly agree that the posting of tasting notes should be encouraged.
I think I should however challenge the veracity of:

While it might have occurred before I joined the forum in 2011/12, I certainly do not remember "most" of the attendees posting notes at any tasting back then or since. AHB is of course prolific, and some of the rest of us have posted from time to time (JDAW and winesecretary in particular recently). Indeed I would be surprised if the average number of attendees posting notes per tasting exceeded 2 in any year since 2012. Happy to be proven wrong both now (about this) and in the future (due to more people posting following encouragement).
