1985 Fonseca

Dark red, opaque centre with a wide rim. Delicious nose, sweet rose scent with a warm strawberry jam. Satin texture, the fruit floods over the palate yet still has a little of the charcoal tannin hiding in the fruit. An explosion of black cherry on the aftertaste. Plum and black cherry on the long finish. A fabulous showing of a top tier Port. Great to have such a good bottle, but just demonstrates how much more time this needs to reach maturity. 94/100.
Drunk 03-Mar-23.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
