NV Andresen White 40YO (bottled 2021)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Opened today to avoid having to drink (a perfectly decent) Fonseca 2015 LBV which I can otherwise use as a cellar-defender for others while I enjoy this. Bottled in 2021 in 50cl. Deep amber colour, 50% opaque. Caramel and orange on the nose, with a gentle tone of beeswax. A lovely texture on the palate, slightly thickened. Honey and lime on the palate, orange marmalade mid-palate. The balance is perfect; plenty of fruit, multiple layers and spices, just the right amount of acidity and a hint of tannin. Big flavours, rich and wonderfully complex. Orange marmalade on the very, very long finish. Superb.  94/100. Drunk 12-Mar-23. Open 1 hour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
