2005 Kopke Colheita (bottled 2022)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Kopke 2005, bottled 2022; 75cl. A wonderful warm dark honey in colour. Rich on the nose, honey and sherbet lemon promising fizz and acidity. Smooth texture onto the palate, generous honey sweetness giving a lovely complexity. Hints of dried dates, a touch of citrus oil and just the right amount of acidity. Lovely and mouth-filling. Warm aftertaste, cinder toffee with a generous helping of crepe Suzette. A thoroughly enjoyable glass of Port. 90/100. Tasted 13-Jan-23. Opened 1 day before writing this tasting note.
Top Ports in 2022: Quinta do Noval Nacional 1931. I have never drunk such a wonderful bottle of Port. I cried with joy.

2023: Fonseca 1966. There are not many better Ports.
