1994 Dow

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Dow 1994, decanted at 14.00, drunk at 21.30. Deep red, the colour of beetroot juice. Rich black fruit on the nose, black cherry and blackcurrant blended together but wonderfully ripe and sweet. The fruit is pure black cherry, but with a lovely acidity delivering a superb freshness; the tannins are fully integrated. The aftertaste is dominated by the fruit and delivers a long, long finish of black cherry and gentle liquorice. Fantastic Port, mature and balanced but still with so much more to give.  94/100. Drunk 19-Jan-23. Decanted 5½ hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
