I was lucky enough to be given the chance to taste the wine and it is seriously impressive. My tasting note can be found here.Sandeman launches 50-Year-Old Tawny Port
Sandeman is delighted to announce the launch of their new 50-Year-Old Tawny Port - the pinnacle of their award-winning range of Aged Tawnies.
Carefully crafted by head winemaker Luís Sottomayor, who was named IWC Fortified Winemaker of the Year 2022 last month, the 50-Year-Old Tawny is a blend of wines aged 40-70 years in Sandeman's historic cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia, sourced from prime vineyard sites in the Cima Corgo, including their spectacular Quinta do Seixo estate. Showing exceptional complexity and length, the 50-Year-Old Tawny epitomises Sandeman's expertise in the art of ageing, a skill that Luís has been perfecting for over two decades.
"We always knew that Sandeman had the Aged Tawnies stock to make this remarkable 50-Year-Old Tawny," says Luís, "and, now the IVDP [Port and Douro Wines Institute] has approved this new category, we are excited to bring this unique blend to the market."
The Sandeman 50-Year-Old Tawny Port (RRP £330.00) will be available in the UK from early September 2022.
