2019 Quinta do Cume
2019 Quinta do Cume. Smooth coffee bean fruit, the brandy still showing slightly. Nicely structured palate with the fruit showing well along with the exuberant acidity and tannins typical of a youthful Port. The fruit wins the battle, giving an element of sweetness and fragrance to the savoury and dry-edged core. 94/100. Tasted blind on 28-Apr-22.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.
2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

That's a new Quinta for me. Do you know anything about them? Clearly they are doing some good things per this review.

I know absolutely nothing about them. This was a bottle which appeared as one of the Ports submitted to the DWWA, which I got the chance to taste - wholly blind, all I knew was that I was tasting Vintage Ports from 2020-2017.

Re: 2019 Quinta do Cume
Per their website they are next to Provesende which I think is a very good location. It looks like the Quinta is owned by a surgeon with a professional wine maker making the wines. I can’t see any mention of Port on their website: only table wines, so perhaps this one was their first attempt. I do sometimes wonder who it is thought will buy these sorts of Ports: the volumes must be tiny, they often aren’t cheap, and the market of people who like VP from smaller / newer places must also be small. But that’s not to complain: I am glad they exist!
