NV Confraria do Vinho do Porto Tawny 10YO (bottled 2018)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Drunk at dinner at the AEVP, at the dinner following the (abandoned) barcos rabellos race.

Confraria 10YO tawny, bottled 2018. Deep red chestnut colour, 80% opaque. Rich nose of rose perfume and a touch of bottle sickness. Lovely rich entry, round and smooth with candied cherry and raspberry coulis; big aftertaste, huge mouthful of candied cherry fruit with a little tannin. The tannin gives a spice to the aftertaste and leads to a warm cinnamon drop finish. Lovely – and so easy to drink! 85/100. 24-Jun-22.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
