2018 Carlos Alonso Piano

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

3596 bottles produced. (About the same for the 2019 vintage). Deep purple colour, powerful floral and fragrant nose with a touch of green herbaceousness. Superb balance on entry; restrained but bold blackcurrant filling the palate. Lovely tannins with a hint of greenness on their grip. Fills the mouth nicely. Elegance and balance are at the core of this wine. Long blackcurrant finish. Very impressive. With a phenomenal length finish. 95/100. Tasted 09-Jun-22.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
