1972 Offley

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Tasted at JDAW's Cellar Reduction Dinner on 16th February 2022.

Gently pigmented mature rust red, 40% opaque. Blood oranges on the nose, perhaps a touch of solvent alcohol. Smooth entry with a nice texture, red apples and perhaps a little TCA. A dry edge to the fruit with faint TCA on the palate. A nice toffee apple finish. The TCA in the wine is very low, but is damaging and flattening the wine. Not Rated. Drunk 16-Feb-22. Decanted 3 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
