1970 Delaforce

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Tasted at JDAW's Cellar Reduction Dinner on 16th February 2022.

Mature red, a lovely colour; 50% opaque. An attractive nose of mature Port, aniseed and cinnamon drops. Delicious. The texture on the palate is perfect. Slightly thickened texture, full of flavour with perfect mature fruit; sweet and balanced. Rose hips and dried plums - so much fruit on the aftertaste. A delicious Port - I love it! Elegant, sweet and delicious. 91/100. Drunk 16-Feb-22. Decanted 3 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

45% opacity, mature red. Cherries and a hint of vanilla on the nose. Wonderful rich cherries, gentle heat mid to late palate, long, long aftertaste. Very nice port.
