1960 Croft

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Croft 1960, decanted 30 minutes; available at Dick's Bar at the Yeatman by the glass for EUR 40. Drunk with Tony Carter. Dark amber colour, 60% opaque. Initially smelling spirity, over the course of 30 minutes this developed a nose of orange syrup and cloves. Sweet and very tertiary on the palate, bitter orange oil dominates the palate. Drying out but still powerful. Hot menthol aftertaste, warm orange and bitter citrus oil finish. Sweet toffee tones appear late. Tasty, but other bottles of 1960 are better. 86/100. Tasted 07-Feb-22. Decanted ½ hour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
