1 hr decant
85% red juice.
Nose a slightly cautious blueberry variant of the usual TN-dominated Niepoort blackcurrant nose - does this have more of the other varieties in?
However, black wine gums (i.e. the usual cassis with slight hint of rubber) on the palate. Powerful, but this bottle perhaps a touch simple.
Good drinking. While pleased I have another seven bottles, I do not think keeping it indefinitely is a good idea.
"Don't hold it back," says my companion, "possibly overly sweet on this occasion, edging a bit towards the fig roll". She's right.

The remainder went very well with fruit cake and staffordshire cheese this evening.

Can this have been the same wine, merely 12 months later? Time is a cruel mistress.winesecretary wrote: ↑09:49 Thu 06 Aug 2020 In bottle I'll leave it for 3-5 years before cracking another one.

@ djewesbury - indeed! I opened the second to confirm my view of the first from the year before and was then confounded. I remain of the view that in half it is fully ready, however.
