Sandeman Veil Old Porto

Post by Doggett »

It appears Sandeman are launching a Premium Old Tawny to follow in from and replace the Cask 33. I saw a quick video on Instagram and have found a link to the brochure, but not seen a press release or Pricing yet. I think it is a 90 year average blend using wines as old as 120 years. Has anybody any further info?

Here is a link to the brochure.

Good question. Anyone wants to split a case? I want at least two bottles.

I quite like the wooden box, although I don’t find many of the bottles that super-premium wines and spirits come in very attractive. I think this one would be better than average were it not for the huge stopper which destroys all of the lines.

Have they got some exemption for putting a selo on it? I think you can put it on the back label these days, but it doesn’t look like that bottle has one. Or perhaps it was artistically removed for publicity purposes.

Yes, the selo can be put on the back label now... IIRC that was first possible for the 2017 vintage.

(Based on my stocks of Graham's The Stone Terraces, for which 2016 has a classic selo while 2017 has the new back label selo.)
