New to TPF

Post by DanSelk »

Hello all, been reading the forum for about 9 months now and finally decided to join. Have enjoyed drinking Port for a long time but finally started to collect it during the Covid Lockdown last year when I was bored and needed a hobby! I have gone a bit crazy collecting the following Graham's Vintage Ports,

1977 x 2 (Year I was Born)
1994
1997
1985
2000
2003
2011
2016
2017

Other Vintages include a Dows 1977 and Smith Woodhouse 2007.

I have also got a good collection of Aged Tawny Ports and LBV's.
The Penfolds Ports were interesting so bought the 10yr old Tawny Father Grand and the GrandFather 20yd old. Not tried either yet.

Always one to get excited by a new delivery I also joined the Churchill's Port.Club too which is really good.

I'm based in Yorkshire, England.
Anyway, hello.

Cheers,
DanSelk :660033:

Hi DanSelk,
Welcome to The Port Forum. It is a slippery slope to emptying bank accounts but experiencing and enjoying the nectar of the grape as it was meant to be enjoyed. You have obviously got a great collection that you are building, and I hope to meet you at a tasting sometime where lots of bottles are shared and enjoyed.
All the best,
Simon

Welcome to the forum Dan. Hope we get a chance to meet over a bottle or two at a tasting. And welcome to an addictive hobby!

Hello, and welcome.

Before we can meet properly, do join us online for tastings. They aren’t as good as the real thing, but they are still worthwhile.

Where are you? Will London tastings be convenient for you?

Welcome Dan, good to have you join us.

As and when you open a bottle and taste things, do let us know what you think of the wine you’re drinking. I’ve never tried the Fletcher’s LBV you’ve just bought and always like to hear about good value Ports.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Sir? My younger brother’s going out with Dibble this weekend, sir, but I’m not having my hair cut today, sir. So, do I move my clothes down, or …?
