Mon 15th Feb 2016 - A second emergency in a week!

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

At short notice, a second emergency was declared in February and a valiant group of us gathered together at the Boot & Flogger to enjoy a tried and tested theme of "Bring a Blinded Bottle to Share".

The Ports which appeared on the 15th were:
1982 Morgan Brothers
1970 Offley Boa Vista
1977 Smith Woodhouse
1985 Taylor
1994 Quinta do Vesuvio
1974 Warre LBV

Very decent drinking was had, and a very relaxed Monday evening with good port and good company.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Two emergency's in a week and with the Vesuvio vertical to follow....what a fine month for port February 2016 has turned out to be! Thanks to Alex for arranging this short notice gathering. It was a great evening on many levels. Firstly, the company as always, for whom I want to add a special thanks for their generosity of warmth on the night. Secondly for the enjoyment at discovering the joys of the mature LBV with the Warre's 1974 unfiltered I was able to bring along, and also to be able to share (albeit not an amazing port) a Morgan 1982 that has not previously had a tasting note on :tpf: or :ftlop2014: And finally for getting 2 points on the blind guessing which is my best performance so far.

All in all a great night and I am already looking forward to the next calling of an emergency!

Whence came the Mg82? Both in the sense of who brought it, and where did that person acquire it?

An answer, very soon, would still be useful.

I bought it along as well as the Warre’s 74 LBV. and it was acquired as part of a private sale listed on TPF shortly before.
