p'n'decant'n'pour
Blocky. Massive cassis on nose, massive chocolate on finish. Impressive. But needs time to open out.
+ 24 hrs
80% opaque dark red juice.
Beguiling nose of tobacco and herbs, the blackcurrant floating behind. Weighty palate of South African plums stewed with star anise and cinnamon. Finish majoring on chocolate and tobacco.
Slight sense that I should have drunk it 12 hours ago. Hmm.

Re: 1991 Croft
1991 Croft is a wonderful Port. I would not have guessed that it would be fading at 24 hours, though... I'll have to keep that in mind for future bottles. My habit has been to decant for 8-10 hours, and the bottles never survive the event so I've never tried it at 24 hours that I can remember.

I agree that Croft 1991 is a wonderful port - it was the easy winner of the 1991 horizontal we did 18 months ago - NN was 5th or 6th so we are not swayed by name - but your 8-10 hours sounds spot on for this particular bottle. I have another half case so easy to revisit/adjust idc.
