1963 Fonseca

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled by Findlater, Mackie & Todd. A mid-shoulder fill with the cork having dropped into the bottle. Recorked and rewaxed a few days after purchase in 2016. Very evolved colour. Quite oxidised on the palate, but with a nice cranberry bitterness / brown sugar flavour to it. Decent tobacco finish. Very bitter, almost a wormwood rather than cranberry. Getting smoother with more time in the glass with the bitterness reducing but still a big and harsh kick from the acidity on the aftertaste. Not Rated. Opened 20-Jul-21. Tasted after ½ hour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
