2004 Croft LBV

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Croft 2004 LBV, bottled 2009; half bottle; one of the Tesco promotion sold in 2010 for £2.49 a half. Decanted off a decent amount of sludge. Cherry red in colour, opaque centre and a wide rim. Very little on the nose, a very faint violet perfume. Soft, perfumed black cherry on the palate. Tannins give a slight peppery bite to the palate. Lovely black cherry and black pepper aftertaste, long aniseed finish. Lovely round Port, even with no time in the decanter. 30 minutes later the Port had developed a lovely sourness to the cherry. 87/100. Drunk 20-Jan-21.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
