2015 Quinta da Devesa LBV

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

The label states this was bottled unfiltered in 2019. Gentle red colour looking surprisingly evolved compared to some of its 2015 LBV peers, 80% opaque. Crushed nettles and herbs on the nose. Gentle entry, fruit which has a slight sherbet touch to it, very jammy in flavour although the fruit changes and evolves on the palate with the support of some fine-grained tannins. Chewy on the late palate with a distinct dryness to the flavour. Persistence pays off as these elements eventually come together to give a medium bodied, elegantly fruited but slightly over-sweet palate and a long Sherbet Dabs finish. The fruit is too sweet and confectionary for this to be anything more than pleasant occasional drinking. 84/100. Tasted 10-Apr-21.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
